Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Governor Greg Abbott has declared a state of disaster in Texas due to novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

At Workforce Solutions South Plains, the health and well-being of our staff and all who visit our office for services are our top priority. We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be experiencing surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19), and we are committed to being responsive to the needs of parents, job seekers, and employers as the situation evolves.

Staff are adhering to the precautions of the Centers for Disease Control regarding hand washing, social distancing, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.

We ask that you work with us remotely if at all possible, during this time.

Parents receiving or needing to apply for Child Care Services are encouraged to access the online tools for reporting changes or to call the office at (806) 744-3572.

The goal of Workforce Solutions South Plains is to continue providing uninterrupted workforce services in our area.

Child Care Services

Workforce Solutions South Plains Child Care Services is committed to providing you the best service possible during this public health situation.  As of Monday, March 23, 2020, we will be available to serve you via phone, fax, mail, website, or email.  We know you may have questions regarding your child care services and other Workforce Services or resources available and we will do our best to keep you informed.

Below are changes made to the Child Care Services program effective immediately:

  • ABSENCES/NON-SWIPES
    • effective March 1, 2020 absences and non-swipes will not count until further notice.
  • PARENT SHARE OF COST
    • The Texas Workforce Commission has approved a temporary Parent Share of Cost relief. The parent share of cost portion is being waived as of April 1st, 2020. The ongoing need for this will be assessed by the Texas Workforce Commission monthly. You will be notified when it ends.
  • REDETERMINATION
    • If you’ve already submitted your recert documents your recert will be completed as is.
    • Upcoming redeterminations through the end of May will be extended for 3 months. You will be notified of the new date for recert.
  • ESSENTIAL WORKERS
    • If you are an essential worker and need child care services to continue working, please contact CCS if you need help locating a provider that is open.
    • COVID-19 Essential Workers:
      • pharmacy and healthcare;
      • first responders;
      • critical local and state government staff;
      • mail/delivery services;
      • nursing homes, child care, home healthcare, and other direct care providers;
      • grocery stores;
      • gas stations;
      • banks;
      • restaurants (with drive-through and delivery); and
      • military personnel
  • VOLUNTARY WITHDRAWAL / SUSPENSION
    • If you have made the decision you will not return your children to services even after this public health situation or just want to suspend care for the time being please notify CCS.

Child Care Providers

Below are changes made to the Child Care Services program effective immediately and subject to change:

  • PARENT ABSENCES/ USE OF POS MACHINE
    • Effective March 1, 2020 absences and non-swipes will not count until further notice.
    • Parents are not required to swipe their attendance card if the POS is not accessible.
  • PAYMENTS
    • Providers will continue to receive CCS payments, including Z days and absences.
    • Providers will be required to supplemental bill or provide copies of the sign-in sheets to document attendance of CCS referred children to: childcarebilling@spworkforce.org.
  • PARENT SHARE OF COST
    • The Texas Workforce Commission has approved a temporary Parent Share of Cost relief. The parent share of cost portion is being waived as of April 1st, 2020. The ongoing need for this will be assessed by the Texas Workforce Commission monthly. You will be notified when it ends.
  • REDETERMINATIONS
    • Parents who have already submitted their recert documents will be processed as is.
    • Upcoming redeterminations through the end of May will be extended for 3 months.
  • REQUIRED REPORTING
    • Providers must continue to report drops and absences to CCS as you normally would.
    • If your Center closes or reduces operations you must inform CCS Provider Services immediately at: childcareservices@spworkforce.org

We're Moving!

The Workforce Solutions South Plains Lubbock office is moving to a new location. On July 2, 2018 Workforce Solutions Lubbock Workforce, Childcare, and Youth Services will move to 2002 West Loop 289 Suite 117 inside the Wayland Plaza.
