South Plains College YOU Day - Resource Fair

    11:00 am-2:30 pm
    February 1, 2022

SPC students, faculty, staff and community to celebrate You Day on Feb. 1 – Spring 2022

LEVELLAND – What is “You Day” you ask? On Feb. 1, South Plains College will spend the day recognizing and caring for what makes “You” special.

It’s a free event, and everyone is welcome to attend! The day is sponsored by SPC Health and Wellness and Office of Student Life.

The day-long festivities get underway with a Self-Care Resource Fair from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Student Center. Throughout the day yoga, therapy dogs, religious organizations, student organizations and non-profits as well as a relaxing massage chair will be available to help unwind and enjoy a mental health break from daily routines.

Participants are encouraged to visit representatives from Women’s Protective Services, Catholic Charities of Lubbock, Voices of Hope, Buckner International, South Plains Rural Health/Health Department, Atheist Community of Lubbock, Unitarian Universalist Church, SPC Tutoring Center, StarCare, Baptist Student Ministry, SPeCtra, Workforce Solutions, Early Learning Centers, Lubbock Impact, SPC Health and Wellness, Open Door and Gr8 Smiles.

The highlight of “You Day” will be a performance by comedian Josh Rivedal at 6:30 p.m. in the  Sundown Room. The author, playwright and actor will present “You Can’t Laugh at That: Standup Comedy and a Keynote on Mental Health.”

Rivedal is the founder and creative director of The i’Mpossible Project in which he provides advocacy, entertainment, seminars and peer-to-peer education on suicide prevention, mental health and storytelling. He works with Skookum Hill, a publishing, consultancy and production firm, where he creates content that inspires, educates, entertains and transforms.

For more information, contact Josh Meredith, director of Student Life, at (806) 716-2377.
